There was airline news today as it was announced by Aer Lingus that they are going to start flying to Miami from Dublin in September of next year.

The former national carrier will also adding on extra flights on existing routes from Dublin to Los Angeles, Chicago and Orlando. This includes a three time weekly flight to Miami which will bring to 13 the number of US Aer Lingus routes in operation. The two additional new European routes are also being added to the airline’s roster are Porto, Portugal and Split, Croatia.

This announcement comes not long after Aer Lingus commenced their new flights on their US routes of Los Angeles, Newark,New Jersey and Hartford in Connecticut. Los Angeles will become a daily service for summer 2017, with Orlando increasing to four flights weekly during the same period

Last year the airline also become part of the International Consolidated Airlines Group, which is the parent company of British Airways and Iberia.

This year has proven to be a positive year for Aer Lingus as they also confirmed today that it has increased its team by more than 200 new jobs bringing their workforce to more than 4,000, up. This is compared to this time last year when their numbers were more around 3,800.

This announcement from Aer Lingus will be further beneficial to the economy as the airline expects staff numbers will rise by a further 140 in the coming 12 months.
