A big congratulations is in order to Titanic Belfast who was named Europe’s Leading Visitor Attraction at the prestigious World Travel Awards held in Italy this week!
Taking the top spot, Titanic Belfast beat off some huge names in European tourism. They had stiff competition from closer to home from the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin along with The Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace and The Roman Colosseum in Italy just to name a few.
The Chief Executive of Titanic Belfast, Tim Husbands MBE, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be Europe’s Best Tourist Attraction and to bring the award back to Ireland! After only four years in operation, to be recognised and beat off stiff competition from Europe’s most iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Roman Colosseum is a true honour”
Since the attraction opened in 2012, Titanic Belfast has established itself as a world-class attraction on the local, national and international stage, and continues to go from strength to strength putting Northern Ireland on the map. This great achievement can only influence travel and tourism here attracting more visitors because of this new title.
Visitors are something that are the least of Titanic Belfast’s worries as last month, it welcomed its three-millionth visitor, having once again exceeded visitor number expectations. This huge milestone came along the attractions busiest day to date with a record-breaking August with visitors from around the world.
This is not the only award the centre has to boast about as it was recently included in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travelist of 500 of the world’s most striking locations.
Speaking as someone who has visited Titanic Belfast, a big congratulations from everyone here at NIT&T!
