There has been a heatwave warning issued for most of Spain as temperatures have risen to higher than 40 degrees celsius.

The rise in temperature will cause many areas of Spain especially in the south of the country to experience severe storms this week, with heavy hail in higher, mountainous areas.

Last weekend, temperatures on record reached 44 degrees near Cordoba airport. While in Andalucia, temperatures reached 42 degrees. This hot weather is not expected to change as similar temperatures are expected next weekend.

As we are in the middle of the Summer season, there are many tourists in and travelling to Spain who will find this heat wave warning concerning, especially those with small children. Travellers and visitors to Spain are being advised to be extra vigilant for fires, to stay out of the sun where possible and to drink plenty of water.
