Ryanair have just announced its Winter 2016 Schedule for Belfast which includes seven new routes to Alicante, Berlin, Kraków, Lanzarote, Malaga, Milan and Tenerife. With the new routes, they also announced that they will fill five extra daily flights to London Gatwick! With this new announcement, there were hints from the RyanAir owner of further big announcements for Belfast in the upcoming months.
There had been an expectation of the airline to announce at least five new routes this morning so when it was revealed to be in fact seven new routes, it was a pleasant surprise.
The added Ryanair routes to Berlin and Milan represent a “long-awaited breakthrough into the lucrative German and Italian markets and a cause for major celebration in Northern Ireland”, according to Belfast International Airport Managing Director Graham Keddie.
The announcement of these new routes and additional flights is not only music to the ears of travellers but it also looks to help improve NI Tourism as the number of visitors with over one million customers p.a are expected to be delivered and support the economy with 750 jobs at the Belfast International Airport base.
